How to make Paneer Biryani

Step 1 – Chop all the veggies and soak the rice for half an hour

To prepare this delicious biryani, start by washing the rice thoroughly and soak them for half an hour. Then, wash the coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, garlic, carrot and onion under running water. Using a clean chopping board, finely chop them all. Finally, cut the paneer into small cubes and keep aside.

Step 2 – Pressure cook the rice for 2 whistles and blend the spices to make a fine paste

Now, take a pressure cooker over medium flame and heat it. Add the washed rice with enough water to cover it. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles and when done, fluff it with a fork. Then, take a blender and transfer the chopped onions, mint leaves, garlic, and ginger paste. Add peppercorns, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and lemon juice, and blend it to form a fine paste.

Step 3 – Saute the whole spices with blended paste

Next, take a deep shallow pan over medium flame and heat ghee in it. When it’s hot enough, add cardamom and bay leaves and saute them till they emit an aroma. Then, pour the prepared paste and add 3 tbsp water into the pan. Stir it and allow it to cook for a minute.

Step 4 – Cook rice in this paste and add paneer along with the other veggies for 5 minutes

Transfer the cooked rice into the pan and stir. Add paneer, green chillies. carrots, and season it with salt. Stir again and cook until they are all mixed thoroughly. Finally, transfer it to a serving tray and pair it with curd. Enjoy the delicious Paneer Biryani!

  • 500 gm rice
  • 1 handful coriander leaves
  • 2 green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 piece green cardamom
  • 6 peppercorns
