Ingredients
For the Batter:
- 200g Paneer (cubed)
- ¼ cup All-purpose flour (Maida)
- 2 tbsp Cornflour
- ½ tsp Black pepper powder
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ cup Water (as needed)
- Oil (for frying)
For the Sauce:
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp Ginger (finely chopped)
- 1 Green chilli (slit)
- 1 small Onion (cubed)
- ½ Capsicum (cubed, any color)
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp Chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- ½ tsp Black pepper powder
- ½ tsp Salt (adjust as needed)
- 1 tsp Sugar (optional)
- 1 tbsp Cornflour mixed in 3 tbsp Water (to thicken the sauce)
- Spring onions (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Fry the Paneer
- In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, cornflour, salt, and black pepper powder.
- Add water gradually to form a smooth, thick batter.
- Coat the paneer cubes in the batter and deep-fry or shallow-fry them until golden brown. Keep aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic, ginger, and green chilli until aromatic.
- Add onions and capsicum; stir-fry for 2 minutes on high flame.
- Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, vinegar, salt, sugar, and black pepper powder.
- Pour the cornflour slurry (cornflour + water) into the pan and stir well until the sauce thickens.
Step 3: Combine and Serve
- Add the fried paneer cubes to the sauce and toss well to coat evenly.
- Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
Serving Suggestion:
- Serve dry chilli paneer as a starter.
- Add more water/cornflour slurry for gravy chilli paneer and serve with fried rice or noodles.
