Spiced Chickpea “Nuts” Recipe
Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for spiced chickpea “nuts.” These crispy chickpeas make a great snack and are packed with flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or sweet)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Chickpeas:
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove as much moisture as possible. The drier the chickpeas, the crispier they will get.
- Season Chickpeas:
- In a large bowl, toss the chickpeas with olive oil until they are well-coated.
- In a small bowl, mix together all the spices: cumin, paprika, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture over the chickpeas and toss to ensure they are evenly coated.
- Bake:
- Spread the seasoned chickpeas out in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes, or until the chickpeas are golden brown and crispy. Stir them halfway through the baking time to ensure even cooking.
- Cool and Serve:
- Remove the chickpeas from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
- Once cooled, enjoy them as a snack, or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
