Sweet lassi with plain yoghurt and sugar as main ingredients. Add rose water for a pleasant taste. Also add Malai if you want it rich and tasty.

Here’s a classic sweet lassi recipe that is easy to make and refreshing to drink:


  • 2 cups plain yogurt (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup cold water or milk
  • 4 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (e.g., pistachios or almonds) for garnish (optional)
  • A few saffron strands for garnish (optional)
  • Rose water (a few drops, optional)


  1. Prepare the Yogurt Base:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chilled yogurt and cold water or milk. Whisk them together until smooth and creamy. You can also use a blender for a smoother consistency.
  2. Sweeten the Lassi:
    • Add the sugar to the yogurt mixture and whisk or blend until the sugar is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.
  3. Add Flavor:
    • If using, add the cardamom powder and mix well. Cardamom adds a fragrant and slightly spicy note that complements the sweetness.
  4. Blend Until Frothy:
    • If you prefer a frothy lassi, blend the mixture on high speed for a minute. This step is optional but gives the lassi a light, airy texture.
  5. Serve Chilled:
    • Pour the lassi into glasses. If desired, add a few ice cubes to each glass to keep the lassi chilled.
  6. Garnish:
    • Garnish with chopped nuts and a few saffron strands for a touch of elegance and extra flavor. A few drops of rose water can also be added for a delicate floral note.

  • You can adjust the thickness by varying the amount of water or milk.
